Affiliate Program Management Case Study. 

Universal Marketing Media, Inc. Case Study. 

Universal Marketing Media is a publishing company and publishes digital products mostly in Health care industry. They also have physical products such as Facial Peels and anti-wrinkle creams. 

After we took up their in-house affiliate program for the purpose of affiliate management, we analysed affiliate program's past data, and came to the conclusion that following areas needs attention. 

Problems Identified: -
 

  • Payment Frequency & Methods of Payments: - Payment frequency was monthly and the only method of payment was check.

  • Involvement Of Existing Affiliates: - Many affiliates that were enrolled in the program had very good profile, but their participation was not 100%.

  • Inactive Affiliates In the Affiliate Program: - There were a large number of affiliates in the program but a very few of them were producing results.

  • Affiliate Training & Education: - The transition time for an affiliate from "Newly Joined Affiliate" to "Producing Affiliate" was high. Higher transition time also carries a high risk of losing affiliate's interest in the affiliate program. Therefore affiliates needs to be given proper guidance during this period.

  • Affiliate Recruitment: - There were other big and highly relevant affiliates who were involved with competitor's program. Hence they needs to be approached and convinced to join the program.

  • After identifying areas for improvement and consistently implementing the work plan for about 6 months we achieved following results. 

    Improvements Achieved: - 

    Affiliates welcomed alternative payment methods and increased payment frequency. Constant support along with performance-based promotions resulted in increased affiliate participation. Consistent recruitment efforts got highly targeted affiliates on board. 

    With all the efforts combined we achieved following improvements. 

    Improvement in sales amount through affiliate program are represented in terms of % and compared with the sales of corresponding months of previous year(when the affiliate program was not managed by us). 

    Improvement in Oct over previous year's Oct: - 64% 

    Improvement in Nov over previous year's Nov: - 98.6% 

    Improvement in Dec over previous year's Dec: - 207% 

    Improvement in Jan over previous year's Jan: -  358.7% 

    Improvement in Feb over previous year's Feb: - 136.3%
